T.F. Pruden is an independent filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist born in Canada.

Of Metis descent, Mr. Pruden is a chronicler of the obscure. In both life and works, he’s captivated by a never ending search for independence.

He makes his home near Edmonton, Alberta, at the small town of Thorsby, in western Canada.

The release of Another Sandwich marks his festival debut. A guerilla production shot live on the streets of Edmonton, it’s the first short in a planned trilogy. With a larger crew, he’s now working on the second instalment.

First a writer, he brings an auteur’s eye to the director’s chair, combined with a lifetime of live and studio production.

The influence of the cinéma vérité, and indie filmmakers such as Cassavetes and Godard, are plain in his work, from shooting live on city streets to its lengthy scenes and minimalist dialog.

Though neither prolific nor well-known, his experience and output to date is prodigious.

First published as a high school poet, he spent the early years of his arts career making music. To date, he’s recorded eight albums and toured across North America as his alter ego, the singer/songwriter Tim Harwill. Since giving up life on the road, he’s published a growing list of literary novels.

His minimalist fiction depicts postmodern life and the challenges of moral relativism among the people of western Canada. Mr. Pruden’s eighth novel ‘A Whippoorwill Called’ arrived in spring 2025.

Another Sandwich represents the first step in the next phase of his career. With a trilogy of shorts scripted, and a feature film script awaiting production, he plans to make it worth watching.

A member of SOCAN since the eighties, he’s also a member of the Writer’s Guild of Alberta, the Edmonton Arts Council, and CARFAC.

Until further notice, we’ll feature news and information related to his filmmaking efforts here.
